2D Art Portfolio

This is my portfolio for my general 2D Art. It includes 2D drawings I have made!

Character Lineup #1 + Character Lineup #2
These two pieces are a pair of art pieces showing a lineup of characters (Left to right: 2, 4, 5, 7 belong to @colauisquirky on Discord/Rest of the characters are made by me).
These set of pieces were made to test and demonstrate my ability to create interesting and stylized character designs using both shape theory and the silhouette trick, as well as a general practice for my digital art creation skills.

How Can Life Thrive Here?As a general practice for more work in backgrounds, this piece was made for a class in my college. The painting is of a post-apocalyptic army setting, based on a personal project of mine. The goal was to create a digital matte painting. I am not usually one to do backgrounds, as I prefer to work on the people themselves, but this art piece has made me realize that the environment people live in is just as human as the people themselves. It has peaked my interest into practice and creating more backgrounds and settings such as this in my work.

Three of a Feather, Flock Together...or something like that
This piece was a personal project of mine, mainly done for fun to showcase some characters (Left to Right: 2, 3 belongs to @colauisquirky on Discord/1st character belongs to me).
The purpose of this work was actually to experiment with stylization. I was testing out a lot of shading and rendering techniques. Some stuck, such as the hair details, while others didn't. Mainly a piece done for fun!

Conga RedesignThis is a simple character redesign done for @colauisquirky (on Discord) with permission.Along with being a fun project to take on to test my character design skills, it was also to practice texturing with examples such as the clothing and hair.

Painted RedThis artwork was a commission done for @colauisquirky for one of their characters. While this is an older piece of mine, I feel it is still appropriate to display it as it shows my development. This character is based off of the grunts from Madness Combat (made by Matt Jolly on Newgrounds). A lot of the thinking of this piece revolved around how I wanted the mood to be in this piece. Having that in mind, I played around with different types of lighting and shading, and tied it together with an ominous red background and tint.

Hey You! (2 Parts)This art work is a set of two pieces, one including my character (the purple one) and one of @colauisquirky characters (the yellow one). While this is more of a simple set of pieces, they come together to show a bigger meaning. This was made as a set of matching profile pictures that can be used on any social media platform. I experimented and stretched my style to see how far I could go with it still being my style. I am quite please with the outcome, especially with the exaggeration of the face and eyes.

Live Model #3This art work is a traditional style art piece done for one of my classes in college. The piece is made from charcoal and shows a live model laying down. The goal of this piece was to practice the anatomy of the human body but in a more foreshortened view. I focused mainly on the part that was foreshortened and adding detail to my close composition to create this piece.

Overtime EverytimeThis piece was one I had a lot of fun with. It portrays one of my characters, who is a bartender, working late at night in his bar.I wanted focus less on the general structure an more on experimenting with interesting perspectives and lighting. I was choosing between different kinds of colors and brushes and settled on a bright, vivid overhead lighting with a worms eyes view from the bar. It was also a time I was experimenting with adding characters into a specific setting in an artwork.

I'm a WHAT?!Story-based drawings are always one of my favorites to do in terms of characters as it adds interest in the context (or lack there of). The context of this picture is that Caeser (the purple one) has turned into a ghost after a failed magic trick. All the other ghosts in the background are watching as this girl freaks out over the situation, having varying emotions. All of the characters designs are made by me and the main purpose of the creation of this art is to play around with different character designs based around a certain species and set of conditions. I was going in with the idea of experimenting and seeing how I could with the concept provided to create interesting characters that still fit these conditions (or even broke them).

Are You Sure You're Okay? (Redraw)This art piece portrays two army guys. One seems to feel down and demotivated, almost unsure, while the other is showing genuine concern for him. These characters were originally based in the world of Tankmen (made by Jeff Bandelin (JohnnyUtah on Newgrounds))(Character on the left belongs to @colauisquirky on Discord). This is a redraw of the second picture shown, and was done to see how much I improved in my overall art quality, anatomy, and style. I focused a lot more on the exaggeration of certain features, such as the poses, the faces, and the hair to give that more refined look. I overall think that I have improved immensely since the creation of the original work, which was created three years prior.

Afternote:My portfolio is constantly growing and will be added to and refined as I create more pieces. If you are interested in my progress, feel free to revisit this website and check for new art!

Disclaimer:Select art pieces may be signed with a different signature, usually my older works. At the time of creation of these artworks, I went by a different username compared to now. Such signatures such as @RaskalOckins and @CAPYLL. are some of the older signatures you may see (I was a very indecisive person previously). If you are still concerned or have any questions about this, please feel free to contact me!
